Biography Dox
Biography Dox presents portraits of lives that cannot be reduced to a single narrative – as well as those whose importance lies in quiet places. Biography here is not a list of “ups and downs”, but a structure built through relationships, context and inner contradictions. The films reveal how public images are constructed and how private truths slip away. Protagonists may be artists, activists, outsiders, visionaries or “ordinary” people with extraordinary experiences. The section raises questions of authorship and responsibility: who has the right to tell someone’s life, and how. In strong biographical documentaries, detail matters more than chronology. The programme offers diverse approaches – archive, interviews, performance, reconstruction or intimate diary-like access. Biography Dox reminds us that history is written through individuals, shaped by their time. It is a section about people, but also about fame, power, memory and myth. If films make you want to read, listen or explore further, this is your section.
